I became interested in working with clay when I was a senior in high school. It was a brief introduction to ceramics. I enjoyed creating sculptures in clay and working on the wheel making functional pottery. In college, I took several ceramic classes among the many art, education, psychology, philosophy, and business classes.
I received a B.A. in Education and Art from Northeastern Illinois University. Then attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago – Baccalaureate studies in Ceramic Art. There I expanded my knowledge of art, sculpture, and ceramics.
After college I continued to develop my skills as a studio potter, in the ceramics/clay industry and the business of art.
I worked at several local clay companies, A.R.T. Studios, Lill St. Gallery & Robbins Clay Co. in the Chicago Area. In 1999 – 2005, I started, owned, and operated Spring St. Gallery and Galena Art Center in Galena, Illinois.
Over the years I have attended many professional development workshops given by working potters, at Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft, Armory Art Center, Odyssey Clay Center, Appalachian Center for Crafts, and other Art facilities.
Currently, my focus is on creating and producing functional pottery. Creating one of a kind pieces and designing limited series of functional work.
