Vandana Jain is a Chicago-based artist whose vibrant paintings of nature are inspired by her travels, from witnessing majestic leopards in Namibia to observing the brilliant birds of Botswana. These encounters fuel her colorful, expressive paintings, inviting viewers to stay in the present and revel in the beauty of Mother Earth.
Using a diverse range of mixed media—including collages, inks, spray paint, gold leaf, acrylics, and oils—she creates textured paintings that capture the energy and movement of the natural world. Her creative process begins with layered textures and abstract backgrounds, built through a collage base of selected papers and mixed media. She then applies free-flowing inks to establish the mood of the piece, followed by paint markers and gold leaf accents to highlight intricate details. Acrylics and oils bring her subjects to life, adding rich depth and contrast to her ethereal compositions.
By balancing realism with abstraction, Vandana’s work transforms nature into a bold, immersive experience, evoking a sense of wonder, joy, and connection with the world around us.
